هر میلی لیتر خمیر حاوی 100 میلی گرم امپرازول است.

موارد مصرف

گاستروگارد محصول انتخابی در درمان و پیشگیری از زخم معده متوسط ​​تا شدید است. این یک محصول تقویت‌شده و ممتاز برای اسب‌های با کارایی بالاست که درمانگر زخم‌های مزمن سرسخت و دارای عملکرد سریع است. اثر ضد ترشحی قوی گاستروگارد باعث کاهش چشمگیر اسیدیته مایع معده در طی چند روز پس از شروع درمان می‌شود و از آنجایی که مایع معده دیگر برای مخاط معده تحریک نمی‌شود، زخم‌ها خود به خود در عرض دو هفته بهبود می‌یابند. ادامه روند درمان با کاهش دوز روزانه و سپس از بروز مجدد زخم جلوگیری می‌کند.

روش مصرف

گاستروگارد را همیشه با معده نسبتاً خالی تجویز کنید. حداقل 20 دقیقه یا ترجیحاً 60 دقیقه قبل از شیردهی مصرف شود.

از آنجا که دانه­های امپرازول پوشش داده شده (برای باز شدن در روده) ممکن است در اثر جویدن آسیب ببینند، همیشه در پشت دهان و روی پایه زبان تجویز شود. در اسب بالغ:

دوز درمان: 10 میلی‌لیتر به ازای هر 500 کیلوگرم وزن بدن (2 میلی‌گرم ماده فعال به ازای هر کیلوگرم وزن بدن) یک بار در روز به مدت 2 تا 4 هفته و سپس دوز نگهدارنده روزانه.

دوز نگهداری: 5 میلی‌لیتر به ازای هر 500 کیلوگرم وزن بدن (1 میلی‌گرم ماده فعال به ازای هر کیلوگرم وزن بدن) یک بار در روز در حالی که اسب‌ها در تمرین هستند یا طبق دستور دامپزشک.

دوز نگهدارنده ممکن است برای جلوگیری از عود زخم در اسب‌هایی که در معرض استرس فزاینده‌ای هستند مانند تمرین شدید، برنامه رقابت سنگین، حمل ‌و نقل و غیره کافی نباشد.

موارد منع مصرف

امپرازول باید در اسب­هایی که بیماری کبدی یا کاهش عملکرد کبد دارند با احتیاط استفاده شود و ممکن است نیاز به کاهش دوز داشته باشد.

مصرف امپرازول در مادیان‌های باردار یا شیرده توصیه نمی‌شود.

مصرف امپرازول در حیوانات زیر 4 هفته یا با وزن کمتر از 70 کیلوگرم توصیه نمی­شود.

امپرازول برای استفاده در اسب‌ها مورد تایید FDA است و یک داروی تجویزی است که به دستور قانونی کتبی یا شفاهی دامپزشک مجاز به استفاده می­شود.

Enteric-coated Omeprazole 10%

Oral paste for the treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers (EGUS) in horses.

Composition

Each ml of paste contains 100 mg of Omeprazole.

Description

GastroGard is the product of choice in the treatment and prevention of medium to severe grade gastric ulceration. GastroGard is a fortified, premium product for high performance horses, chronic recalcitrant ulcers or wherever a rapid response is required.

The powerful anti-secretory effect of GastroGard causes a dramatic reduction in the acidity of stomach fluid within days of commencing treatment, and because the gastric fluid is no longer irritating to the stomach lining, ulcers then heal spontaneously within two weeks. Continuation with reduced daily dosing then prevents ulcers from recurring.

Amount and route of administration

Always administer GastroGard on a relatively empty stomach. Administer a minimum of 20 minutes or preferably 60 minutes prior to feeding.

The enteric coated omeprazole beads may be damaged by chewing. Always administer at the back of the mouth over the base of the tongue.

Adult Horses:

Treatment Dose:  10 mL/500 kg BW (2.0 mg active material/kg BW) once daily for 2 to 4 weeks followed by daily maintenance dosing.

Maintenance Dose:  5 mL/500 kg BW (1.0 mg active material/kg BW) once daily while horses remain in training, or as directed by a veterinarian.

The maintenance dose may be insufficient to prevent the recurrence of ulceration in horses subjected to increased stress such as intense training, heavy competition schedule, transport, etc.

Contraindication

Omeprazole should be used with caution in horses that have liver disease or decreased liver function.  Dosage may need to be decreased.

Omeprazole is not recommended for use in pregnant or lactating mares.

Omeprazole is not recommended for use in animals under 4 weeks of age or weighing less than 70 kg body weight.

Omeprazole is FDA approved for use in horses and is a prescription drug restricted to use by or on the lawful written or oral order of a licensed veterinarian.

Packaging

Immediate package: 30-ml syringe containing 32±1 g of paste composed of white polyethylene syringe barrel with a white LDPE cap, a rubber rod tip and a polyethylene plunger rod, with dose divisions calibrated from zero to 30 ml.

Outer package: Carton box of 1 oral syringe, English and Farsi insert and a hologram on the box.
